Calling all IRONKIDZ…
Wairakei Estate Ironkidz 2021 – Sunday 28th February
Online Entries for 2021 are now closed
Late entries will be accepted at Registration between 4-6pm tomorrow if we have not reached capacity
It is with regret that we can NOT run our event tomorrow due to the sudden change to Level 2 with effect at 6am tomorrow. We understand the frustration and the children disappointment, which as a parent or caregiver can not be made up for. Due to the size of our event, we are required to follow the guidelines stipulated by the government. Please take care, travel safe and we hope that 2022 will be the year for our event.
The Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board is pleased to be a sponsor of the IRONKIDZ Swim Leg. As part of our commitment to supporting healthy lifestyles and healthy whanau, we are pleased to offer 100% subsidised entry to Ngati Tuwharetoa. Offer valid until Thursday 18 February 2021.
Please visit the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board website for more information www.tuwharetoa.co.nz/ironkidz.

What’s it all about?
The Wairakei Estate Ironkidz Triathlon is all about participation. It’s about getting out there, having a go and achieving a personal best and having a heap of FUN.
There are two events: The triathlon for everyone aged 7 – 15 years old, and a Splash & Dash event for 5 – 7 year olds.
To complete the triathlon, competitors complete a swim, following by a bike ride, followed by a run. You can enter on your own – which means you swim, bike and run (in that order) – or as part of a team of three, which means you swim or bike or run. You are also able to enter as a team of two. If you enter as a team of two, one of you will do two of the three legs (swim, bike, run).
Note: Elite section – there are no teams, you must have a road bike (mountain bikes will not be accepted), be a competent swimmer and be a member or either a triathlon club or a school triathlon group. This club/group must be stated on entry form. Entries will be limited to 30 per age group. This is a timed event with time limits on each leg and trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
The Splash & Dash is a paddle in Lake Taupo and a short run along the lakefront. Children do not need to be able to swim and parents can accompany their child if they wish.
Wairakei Estate Ironkidz – celebrating 22 years of fun in Taupo.
We acknowledge the Tūwharetoa Maori Trust Board for providing access to Lake Taupō to hold this event.
We love our lake, and want to look after it. Ours is an environmentally responsible event – we aim to minimise waste by recycling where we can – please use the bins provided.
